Abstract

Major changes are necessary to the current forms of anti-social social media services, in order to make them more consumer-oriented and less consumer-exploitative. This seminar begins by distinguishing the various categories of social media services. It then presents a catalogue of privacy issues, and highlights the most serious concerns. Technical features are identified that would address those concerns. This leads to a discussion of ways in which laws could be reformed so as to support consumer-friendly design features.
