The Miller Line


This is the family-line of Freda Miller, nee Haskins, the 5th and youngest child of Frederic Haskins (1869-1951).

    Fred was the 6th son in his family, and was followed by 5 daughters
    Fred worked for the Danish Bacon Company
    (At least in the last 20 years, Fred and Freda lived at 11 Weston Ave, Milton, Portsmouth)
    Freda d. 3 Mar 1985, aged 79
    Fred (who had sufffered from emphysema for some years) d. 4 Apr 1985, aged (I think) 80
    1. John Joseph MILLER (1928-2005)
      b. 1928
      John was bright, and strongly driven by his mother
      He got into a good college in Portsmouth
      After a short time in a bank, he joined the RAF
      m. 1950 Adele COLLEYPRIEST
      (Mary) Adele was b. 15 Jun 1928
          The Colleypriest name hails from Whitchurch Canonicorum, Dorset
          Adele's father was Herbert Colleypriest of Southsea, b. 1889/90, an engine fitter in the dockyard
          Her mother was Kate (Katie) Louise Bennett of Caversham, near Reading, b. 1890/92
          Kate moved from Caversham to Southsea, and met Herbert.
          They bought 8 Clovelly Rd (just S of Milton Pk) for £850, so Herbert must have been doing okay
      John reached Air-Vice Marshall in the RAF
      He was subsequently Librarian of St George's Chapel (Windsor Castle) and CVO
      John and Adele lived from the 1970s in Maidenhead, and from (c.1990?) in Wimborne (Dorset)
      John d. Jan 2005, aged 76 (of prostate cancer)

        b. 24 Dec 1953
        BA (English Hons) York
        m1. 1981-1985 Trevor 'ay the 'orrible 'orphan from 'ull, lived in Newcastle
        m2. 1988 Ken MARTIN, children 1-2
        Pip and Ken lived in Newcastle, Chicago, Boston, and Saltash
        Ken was a regional development exec, and later a consultant
        Pip was a consultant, and a local councillor
        She complained that she was Centre Labor, but that the party had slid so far to the right (from about 1990?) that she ended up being seen as a left-winger
        d. 29 Nov 2006, aged 53 (of breast cancer)

I met Fred and Freda a couple of times in 1977-79 and 1982.

I knew John, and I know Adele and their family, particularly Pip, very well. And I have at least met everyone else in this page except Duncan and his family.
